Mission Statement:

The mission of Robertson School is the create a positive cohessive community where students can excel academically and socially to reach their full potential as lifelong learners.

Introduction:

Robertson Elementary School is located at 70 Nausauket Road, Warwick, Rhode Island 02886. It is a one story building surrounded by a residential neighborhood that was built in the year 1947. It was the first modern era school in the city and then became a prototype for schools across the country. The school was originally named the Nausauket School but then in 1974 it was changed to Elsie Gibson Robertson Elementary school in honor of Mrs. Robertson who was a principal at the school for many years. Robertson Elementary provides teachers for kindergarten through sixth grade. They have about two teachers for each grade, so roughly 34 teachers with 232 students. Also, this elementary school provides resource teachers, a special class teacher and assistant, a nurse and guidence counselor, art, music, physical education, and have a well equiped library. They provide a speech and language therapist, a visional therapist, a physical therapist, an occupational therapist, and a psychologist. Robertson Elementary has many programs to provide their students. Such as, an after school enrichment program, an accerlerated learning activities program, chorus for grades fourth through sixth, saftey patrol, the D.A.R.E program, and much more. Warwick is a city within Kent County, Rhode Island which is the second largest city in the state. Scott Avedisian has been the mayor in this city since the year 2000, this city has a population of 82,672 people. Warwick, Rhode Island was founded in 1642 by Samuel Gorton. Throughout its years Warwick has witnessed many major event in American history such as being the site of the first shot fired during the American Revolution. The city has an area of 49.6 square miles, 35.5 square miles is land and the other 14.1 square miles consisits of water. There are 22,979 families in the city and 35,517 house holds. The racial make up of the city is 95.21% White, 1.16% African American, 1.49% asian, 0.25% Native American, and 0.61% other races. In Warwick, Rhode Island the child population is 18,780 and children in single parent families is 21%.

‍District Summary:

Warwick has many school within its district, there are three high schools, three middle schools, and twenty elementary schools. The districts teacher student ratio is 1:9 where as the states teacher student ratio is 1:11. Considering these numbers the Warwick district makes sure that the kids have plenty of attention from their staff to ensure the best education.
The graduation rate for Warwick is 75% which is only 1% below what the gradutation rathe for Rhode Island as a state. The attendance rate for elemetary schools is 95% compared to the states 94%, for middle schools is dead even with the states 94%, and for high schools is 92% compared to the states 91%. The percent of students that drop out is 16.2%, and the percent that recieve their GED after dropping out is 4.2%. The students in this school district seem to take their education very seriously.

In Robertson Elementary school there is a 1:9 teacher student ratio, where as the states teacher student ratio is 1:11. This elementary school makes sure that the students will get enough attention from their teachers trying to provide the best education possible. Students recieving special education services is 17%, throughout the state 16% of students are recieving special education services. The attendance rate for this elemetary school is 97% which is fairly high. The stability index for Robertson Elementary school is 91% and the states stability index is 87%. The mobility index for the school is 9% which is lower then the states 13%. Students in Robertson Elementary school have a higher assesment for the NECAPs then the state in almost every area that is tested.

‍Conclusion:

Within this report there has been a lot of information provided about Warwick and a community, a school district, and then focused on a specific elementary school, Robertson Elementary school. This page would be a great help for parents trying to find the best elementary school for their kids to attend, or even a teacher looking for a job. Researching this school has informed me greatly on this school and I myself would not mind being a part of this staff in the future. Overall, Warwick and Robertson Elementary seem to be a nice community that provides a good education to its students.
